2007/08: Month 9 (April/May): Week 40 - COMPLETE

Please login to manage your team:
General Rules

General game play rules are described here. Visit the specific pages for details regarding League Cup (Sept to Nov) and FA Cup (Jan to Mar) rules.

Team Selection

  1. You are allocated £25 million to spend.
  2. Your team should consist of:
  • 1 Goalkeeper - this should be picked from the list provided of Premier League or Championship teams. However if you choose Arsenal for your goalkeeper you cannot pick them as your defence, nor can you choose one of their midfielders/strikers.
  • 1 Defence - this should be picked from the list provided of Premier League or Championship teams. However if you choose Arsenal for your goalkeeper you cannot pick them as your defence, nor can you choose one of their midfielders/strikers. There is only 1 list of teams to choose both your keeper and defence.

Maximum spend on your goalkeeper and defence is £15m. The price for Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal will be set so that you cannot have 2 of these teams.

  • 7 Strikers/Midfielders - these 7 should be picked from the list provided of Premier League and Championship players. However if you choose an Arsenal player you cannot have Arsenal as your goalkeeper or defence.

You can select as many players from one team as you like.

You must select a minimum of one player under £1m (i.e. £0.9m or less).

If you select a player at the start of the season and during the season he transfers to a club of which you already have a team already selected as your goalkeeper/defence you can keep the player (the above rule is not applicable). If a player is on a short term loan of less than a season you can purchase the player and his loan team as your goalkeeper/defence but not his permanent team. If the loan lasts for the full season his team will be his loan team.

Initial Selection

  1. Any team/player can picked as many times as required at the initial selection (no draw will be required).
  2. The limit will then be set dependant on the number of entries. No more than 20% can have a player/team after this i.e. 26 to 30 entries - 6 times, 31 to 35 - 7 times, 36 to 40 - 8 times etc.
  3. If we have 35 entries for example once all teams are in, any player/team selected 7 times or more are sold out. They would only become available if this drops to 6 or less. As an addition the limit comes into force for loan transfers.
  4. Once your initial team is entered you can make changes to your team just once (only before the deadline) to take account of pre season injuries or indecision. This hopefully will eleveate the last minute rush before the deadline but clearly will not stop those who do not want to show their hand to early !

Transfers

  1. You can change your defence or goalkeeper a maximum of 4 times and / or your strikers to a maximum of 8 times.
  2. Transfers are on a first come first served basis via the transfer form on the website.   Once submitted they will be sent to Paul Keech and Russ Farnham. They will immediately appear on the transfer log in chronological order (used to decide sell out disputes). Any competitor who is not using the site (these will be specified at the start of the season) will email and Paul Keech will add them to the log. As there may be a delay from the competitor emailing and Paul Keech adding them on the log, the time taken will be from the email not the log.
  3. The transfer window has been scrapped for 2007/08 (too early to take account of team news for the weekend). The teams will be accessible on the site at all times and transfers will be accepted up until kick off. This might be later than 3pm on a Saturday if both teams involved in the transfer/loan have not played. The quick list is available for you to check all teams and may be printed out for use over the weekend. It is intended to keep this up-to-date at all times but sometimes the transfers may be accepted on the log but not appear on the quick list as selections have not been stored.
  4. The loan decision deadline (at the end of a loan) will continue to be 6pm on a Thursday. An email reminder will sent earlier in the week, no contact by the deadline and you revert to your dropped player.
  5. Multiple transfers will only be accepted if each individual element is specified.
  6. for eg Sell Chelsea, Henry and Defoe                  Buy Man U, Drogba and Crouch would not be accepted.
    Sell Chelsea                                                        Buy Man U
    Sell Henry                                                            Buy Drogba
Sell Defoe                                                            Buy Crouch would be accepted.
It is upto each individual to ensure no rules are broken(overspend, player from same team, no under £1m etc) and the correct format is used. If one element fails on a multiple transfer attempt due to a sell out or broken rule the rest of the transfers will be rejected. Clarification will be sort and no contact before kick off will result in the original team being used. It is hoped that some validation ill be put on the system at some point for an instant decision.
No future transfer planning is acceptable. For e.g drop `Player A' for `Player B' and revert back to him next week. All transfers must relate to the next weekend. This stops you trying to ensure your player/team is not sold out as all competitors must have an equal chance of purchasing said player/team.   If a transfer/loan is completed and then before the next set of games you change your mind, this is acceptable as long it is before one of the relevant teams play their match.

Loan System

  1. To cover short term injuries, suspensions or as a tactical move.
  2. You are allowed a maximum of 4 loan transfers (players only, not teams) on top of your permanent transfers over the course of the season. You can keep each player for a maximum of 4 games. The loan period can be cut short at any time. You must specify which player is to be dropped for this period. If your dropped player scores during this period it will not count. You can loan more than one player at once.
  3. You can only loan any player still available. If a player has gone the number of times set as a limit after your loan, he is temporarily sold out until a decision is made on your dropped player from your team for this period.
  4. All loans must be kept within the allowed budget. Please ensure if you drop an under £1m player that you have another one in your team once your loan is selected.
  5. If you make permanent transfers whilst a loan is in progress please ensure you have enough money to go back to your dropped player. If you do not have enough money to return to the dropped player the permanent transfer will be rejected. Any that slip through the net will be resolved with a forced transfer. Any that have no transfers left will play one man down for the rest of the season.
  6. At the end of the 4 week period you can:
    a) make the loan signing permanent
  7. b) you can extend the loan period to a maximum of 8 weeks (using a further loan)
    c) reinstate your dropped player and return the loan to the pot.
Option C will be chosen if no contact is made by the weekly deadline. no player can be loaned for more than two loan periods during the season. Any other permanent transfers during a loan period cannot involve the dropped player unless the loan ceases first.   The current loan situations will be shown on the website.

New Year Sale

  1. On Jan 1st there will be a half price sale (any player/team that does not divide exactly by two will be round up e.g £1.5m to £0.8m).
  2. All players/teams not selected at this point will have their price reduced. It will allow you to pick up a bargain and also bring some extra players into the under £1m category.
  3. Any player valued at £0.3m or less and not selected will be available on a FREE transfer. Transfers will be accepted right up until 8am New Years Day at full price when the sale prices will be instantly set. Please note the following teams, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man U will not be included the sale.

Scoring

  1. Scoring works as follows, if one of your strikers scores 2 goals and another striker 1 goal in the selected period (usually Fri to Mon) your team scores 3 goals. Your goalkeeper concedes 1 goal and your defence 0, your team concedes 1 goal. Therefore, you win 3-1.
  2. If your team does not play you concede 1 goal (per team). If 4 or more strikers do not play due to either being out of the FA cup, no divisional games or postponed games (Weather or Internationals not injuries) you will receive a goal.
  3. You cannot win a bonus pt if your only goal is a winning goal based on rule 2 above.
  4. Please note all scores/scorers will be taken from an amalgamation of Sky Sports, Teletext and Sunday Mirror. Any disputes go to the committee.
  5. Only matches played on a Friday to Monday count unless stated in the list of fixtures (except Christmas and Easter when there will be 2 games over that period).
  6. Only League, FA cup and League cup games falling within the period (usually just the final) count. Extra time in cup games does not count. Any other football competition is excluded.
  7. Only rescheduled matches in the previous/following week will count (Tuesday to Thursday both weeks) towards that weekends results (providing they have not already played that week. If a cup game, scheduled for that week is postponed but the teams play in a rescheduled league match midweek it is the postponded game that counts. Any teams knocked out of the FA cup early who rearrange a league game for the weekend period will count.
  8. Abandoned games count as if the match was completed. (i.e. the match is abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch after 60 mins at 2-1, the score will count).

Points

Awarded as follows:

3 points for a win

1 point for a draw

0 points for a defeat

1 bonus pt awarded every time your strikers score 5 goals in a weekend (or relevant period).

Additional bonus pt every time your strikers score 8 goals or more.

1 bonus point every time your goalkeeper and defence keeps a clean sheet (both in the same weekend).

Deduction of 1 point if your goalkeeper and defence concedes a total of 5 goals or more in a weekend.

Positions in the league are determined first by points, then goal difference, then goals scored.

League tables will be updated and checked by Paul Keech and Russ Farnham and sent by email / logged on the website at the earliest opportunity (usually Tuesday evening).

Prizes

  1. There will be a monthly prize (with April/May merged) for those finishing 1st and 2nd in the monthly tables (amount depends on the number of entries and number of weeks in the month). The list of prizes will be sent out prior to the season and will be available for your perusal on the website. These would only change if someone drops out or does not pay up by the deadline set. It is intended that you win at least your money back if you win the top monthly or a cup competition.
  2. There will be a prize for the competitor whose team is the top scorer each month.
  3. At the end of the season, prizes will go to all players in the top half of the league. The amount again depends on the number of entries and therefore the total pot of money available. The overall winner will also win a trophy.
  4. The winner and finalist of each cup competition will receive a cash prize. The winner of the FA cup will also receive a trophy.
