2023/24: Month 6 (April/May): Week 36 - Deadline: Fri 26-Apr-2024 19:40

Season Preview (2015-2016)

Keech the Bookie has completed his season preview below now all teams are in. It is based on past history (last 10 years performance in brackets with the latest first) and only looks at your original team selected this time around if you are newcomer. If your transfers and picks are imaginative and inspirational, clearly Keech the bookie cannot predict that. Hope you take it as it is, a little bit of fun and the challenge is for you to either prove me right or completely wrong !!!

Only get concerned if I predict you to win !

Latest season first:

1st Andrew Highton (2/1) (2nd, 5th, 11th, 19th, 17th)

Long overdue for the cursed prediction of top spot. Steady improvement, champion in waiting

2nd  Ishtiaq Beg (5/2). (6th, 4th, 6th, 18th, 33rd, 20th, 23rd)

Mr consistent last 3 seasons. Time to step up and challenge.

3rd Rob Bushell (11/4). (5th, 3rd, 10th, 16th, 6th, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 12th, 7th)

When is Rob finally going to match the heights of 6 or 7 years ago? Last two years have shown signs of that.

4th Ian Cowburn (11/4). (1st, 6th, 4th, 20th, 3rd, 5th, 15th, 12th, 31st, 18th)

Current champion has probably used up all his luck. Now got a taste for it though so won't be far away.

5th Owen Griffiths (3/1). (27th, 1st, 8th, 34th, 31st)

After winning his first title two years ago last season was back to the depths of 4 years ago. New challengers in his circle will push him on again.

6th Graham Jeffries (3/1) (3rd, 2nd, 31st, 1st, 1st, 14th

4 top 3 finishes in 4 years is impressive with the only blip in 12/13. Will be difficult to maintain that.

7th Matt Owen (7/2) (New)

With little previous form some might think this is a surprisingly high prediction. Watch the lad go!

8th Rob Nott (4/1) (22nd, 12th)

Poor Rob has had some stick pre season but he may surprise this time around.

9th Colin Rigby (4/1). (14th, 10th, 3rd, 15th, 16th, 18th, 19th, 1st, 33rd, 11th)

Very hesitant this time but will be aiming to reach the 3rd place from 3 years ago at least. His only title seems a long time ago now.

10th Dan Owen (4/1) (New)

Better pedigree that brother Matt but i dont think he we beat him this season. Top 10 well within his grasp.

11th Andrea Howard (9/2) (7th)

Highly promising first season with Mr Chairman and was really not far off winning the thing last season. As communication could be more difficult now it may hinder any progress this season.

12th David Graham (9/2) (New)

Massive Newcastle fan, may be too reliant on their players early doors but potential is there for a good first season.

13th Simon Barrett (5/1). (4th, 20th, 5th, 30th, 37th)

Career best last time around and agin top 5 three years ago. Not sure he can maintain that though.

14th Andy Peaden (5/1) (9th, 29th, 7th, 27th)

Another with 2 out of the last 3 in the top 10. On the basis that he generally dips every other it culd happen again.

15th Craig Frost (11/2). (18th, 8th, 2nd, 11th, 20th, 3rd, 4th, 37th, 30th, 17th)

May be destracted by William's team so may underperform. Lets hope!

16th Paul Keech (6/1) (17th, 18th, 19th, 21st, 19th, 9th, 11th, 22nd, 1st, 12th)

An improvement of one place for each of the last 3 years. 16th guaranteed.

17th Matt Wakeman (6/1) (New)

Hard to know what to predict here. Edge the bets and go mid table.

18th William Frost (13/2) (New)

Our youngest competitor but apparently has shown real promise pre season. With guidance from dad will do ok.

19th Jordan Watkiss (7/1) (12th)

Not much to go on form wise, a safe mid table predicted

20th Adrian Franklin (7/1) (13th, 15th, 12th, 25th)

After consistent finishes in the last 3 seasons it would be easy to predict the same. More competition this time around may see a slight slip this time around.

21st Jeff Miller (8/1). (10th, 17th, 16th, 38th, 22nd, 36th, 27th, 23rd, 17th, 21st)

After a series of poor campaigns last season finally brought his first top 10 finish. May have underestimated therefore but lets see.

22nd Graham Highton (9/1) (19th, 7th, 24th, 24th, 14th, 30th, 17th, 16th, 14th, 31st)

Other than his good 7th 2 years ago this prediction has been the norm

23rd Shaun Moody (9/1) (Returner)

A decent former player returns so a gamble placing him so low. I might regret it.

24th James Jehu (10/1) (New)

Nothing to go on but a decent start.

25th Harrison Bryant (10/1) (New)

Again hard to predict but again not a bad first couple of weeks

26th Russ Farnham (11/1) (16th, 11th, 20th, 36th, 12th, 17th, 9th, 14th, 6th, 3rd)

Still little to go on to say Russ will hit the heights of 15 years ago.

27th Paul Leech (12/1). (8th, 19th, 15th, 37th, 25th, 38th, 10th, 11th, 5th, 6th)

Paul wil be disappointed to see this lowly prediction after steady if unspectacular improvement recently. go on Leechy prove me wrong.

28th Stewart Arbutnot (14/1) (New)

Looking at his initial team he could be in for a high scoring campaign. Hard to suggest much higher with no form to go on.

29th Andy Rowe (14/1) (New)

Could be a real hard worker on his debut. Not sure of his lower divison knowledge which may let him down. Mr Weetman will need to contribute but I doubt he will,

30th Ben Watson (16/1). (15th, 28th, 21st, 42nd, 15th)

Not the luckiest manager in the league and he may suffer the same fate again.

31st James Nelson (16/1) (New)

No form - standard lower half prediction

32nd David Gwilliam (16/1) (New)

Ditto

33rd Paul Gerrard (20/1). (28th, 24th, 1st, 3rd, 9th, 24th, 21st, 18th, 26th, 16th)

After his spectacular victory 3 years ago things have gone the shape of the pear since. It is difficult to see him returning to those glory days.

34th Simon Baldwin (20/1). (25th, 13th, 26th, 5th, 10th, 27th, 26th, 17th, 13th, 2nd)

I think me and Mr B share the same luck. If he sorts out his defence which tends to let him down he may improve some places. Unlikely though.

35th John Birch (22/1) (New)

See 31st prediction

36th Peter Gerrard (25/1) (New)

Not sure who was the brains behind the young Gerrards. Spitting may dilute the knowledge so both predicted to have their own personal battle in the lower echelons of the table

37th Chris Gerrard (25/1) (New)

See above

38th Tony Barrett (25/1) (21st)

A years experience may bring some improvement but Tony gives the impression he doesn't have too much luck at this game.

39th Matt Hall (25/1) (20th, 31st, 9th, 39th, 13th, 31st, 35th, 15th, 27th, 10th)

Generally Matt is nearer bottom than top. Only twice has he flirted with the top 10. Hard to see him repeating that.

40th Barry Tomlinson (33/1) (24th, 30th, 29th)

In the 3 seasons so far Barry has broke few pots and form suggests that may continue.

41st Royce Frankin (33/1). (29th, 27th, 14th, 13th, 8th, 10th, 33rd, 8th, 15th, no entry)

Royce has declined steadily in the last 5 seasons, the last two pretty close to the bottom so some would say a predictable estimate again.

42nd Alan Keech (40/1). (23rd, 32nd, 18th, 12th, 35th, 34th, 29th, 35th, 28th, 23rd)

Usual position bottom half, cant ee him changing that.

43rd Wayne Moody (50/1). (31st (Last), 26th, 23rd, 7th, 7th, 7th, 32nd, 5th, no entry, no entry)

Nothing short of a disaster last season after some respectable efforts not too long ago. Shaun being back may motivate some improvement.

44th  Chris Lyons (66/1) (26th, 33rd, 27th, 45th, 4th, 35th)

So disappointing in the last 4 years. Compliments to the fact he comes back for more. He will to show some more form before the prediction improves.

45th Richard Smith (100/1). (30th, 25th, 38th, 44th, 34th, 37th, 34th)

Always towards the lower reaches. Nothing indicates that will change.

46th Chris, Ben and Simon (250/1) (NEW)

Shambles of an organisation. Only experience is Chris S bottom place two years ago. Guaranteed bottom spot.
